Katniss has been found again! Also ROCKS!

Ooh!  Nathaniel L. is good!  He discovered Katniss's hiding spot in the dug-out at  Park Road Field.  Congratulations!  He wins a book of his choice.

Katniss will hide again next week.

And don't forget tomorrow (Thursday) at 3:00 at the library we will rock you: we will make rock candy (or at least attempt to) and other rock related art.  Registration is required so call the library (860-295-6210) before 3 tomorrow.

Katniss Week 4, Clue #2

Katniss is stealthily sneaking through the woods. She comes across a Field. Better to hide above in this shelter than be seen.
(You may have to Park off the Road to find this one)

Found in the Ground Week #5

 Week #5 Clue:
The vivid rainbow colors in this body of water are the result of pigmented bacteria in the mats that are growing around edges of the mineral-rich water.  However, the center is a lovely blue color, because it's 70 degrees in the middle - much too hot for bacteria.
The answer is 3 colorful words!

Don't forget to bring in your paper and get (5) more raffle entries for all five correct answers!

Found in the Ground, Week #4

Late again! We were so busy last night trying to contain the teens who were taking over the Library!

Thanks to everyone who came out and had fun with Ms Patty and I - we bleached t-shirts, ate 'dirt', played glo-stick bowling, trivia, Apples to Apples, and hide 'n seek in the dark library stacks. Us old people are tired today.

Our winner of the weekly Teen SRP drawing was: Caitlyn L.

So here's your clue for Found in the Ground, Week #4:
Brazilians, Japanese, granite, and the marine God Poseidon? They have something in common that made the news back in May. Your answer is 3 words that describe the place these unlikely fellows came together.

Katniss Has Been Found!

So Katniss EverGnome was found in "The Connecticut Topographical Atlas" here at the Richmond Memorial Library.  Congratulations to Erin M. for figuring out where she had hidden.

True to form, Katniss EverGnome will hide again.  Having been caught once, she'll likely be harder to locate the next time.  Stay tuned for Clue #1 on Monday.  Remember, if you do find Katniss you get to choose a book or CD of your choice or you may choose an advanced reader copy book (some signed, some not yet released) that Ms. Eileen and Ms. Patty picked up at the Book Expo. Erin M. took home a copy of Divergent with all of its award stickers!

Katniss EverGnome Begins!

I don't know why I start things on Monday - I don't even (usually) work on Mondays! That's why these posts are always late!

So here's your first clue for "The Hunt for Katniss EverGnome" game, Week 1. There will be another clue on Wednesday, and another on Friday. Your mission is to find where Katniss is hiding, go get her, and bring her to the circ desk at the Richmond Library. (just so you know, she is flat like Flat Stanley in this game!) She can be hiding anywhere in Marlborough, a.k.a. the Arena! It's likely you won't find her based on the first clue - just start thinking about a location.
Clue #1: Where she will end is where she starts.

Now on to our "Found in the Ground" game, Week 2.
Clue for Week #2:
Three words complete the answer to this one. This heavenly body of water is found at the bottom of one of our nation's most popular tourist destinations. It's actually found on the North side of another large body of water that runs thru the famous place.

If you need Week #1, go here:

Also, there are still a few spots in Wednesday's Doodle Art class! 6:30pm. Call or go to richmondlibrary.info to register.

Games update!

This crummy weather has just been messing everything up! We've postponed "The Hunt for Katniss EverGnome" game until next week. Maybe it won't be so rainy!

You can stop in and get the 'Groundbreaking Reads' book cover ID game - I'll also try to get that up here on the blog today.

Sorry this is also late, but here is your first clue for "Found in the Ground". Stop in and get an answer sheet where you can write down your weekly answers. 5 total - next one, this Friday. I'll leave this clue up for a while as well. Earn an extra raffle entry for each correct answer. Submit all 5 correct for 5 more raffle entries.

FOUND IN THE GROUND
Clue for Week #1:
The Army Corps of Engineers supervised the excavation of this mountain complex located in the western United States. They also supervised the construction of an operational center within the granite mountain. The complex falls under the control of the U.S. Air Force Space Command. What is the name of the facility OR the operations center?

***PLEASE DON'T COMMENT WITH THE ANSWER! WRITE IT DOWN ON YOUR OWN GAME SHEET AND HAND IN AT RML FOR A RAFFLE ENTRY!
